The need for the Zionist movement to open its door to other Jewish organizations, especially in the United States, to work with the movement for the common goal of supporting Israel and strengthening Jewish life everywhere, was emphasized by Eliahu Dobkin, member of the Jerusalem section of the Jewish Agency, addressing the concluding session of the national conference of the Farband Labor Zionist Order. He also urged that the Zionist movement should extend its activities in countries outside of Israel in the fields of Hebrew and Jewish education, youth and Chaluziut.
Mr. Dobkin recommended that the Farband delegation to the World Zionist Congress should support a proposal that at least 10 percent of the total budget of the Jewish Agency, which amounts to over 200 million pounds annually, be designated for activities in countries outside of Israel. He stressed the dire need of the Zionist movement to strengthen the Zionist position in Jewish education and enable the movement to expand the activities for Chalutziut, which, he said, is of primary importance for the State of Israel.
