Sen. Robert Dole (R. Kan.) said here last night that he was “convinced after my visit (to Israel) that the Israeli government wants to negotiate but they don’t want to say in advance what the conditions will be.” Dole made his remarks in an interview on the Israel Radio after a meeting with Premier Menachem Begin.

The 1976 Republican Vice Presidential nominee said he did not blame the Israelis for refusing to disclose their conditions for a peace settlement before talks begin. “I think President Jimmy Carter may agree after he hears the Prime Minister,” he said. The Senator addressed the 80th annual convention of the Zionist Organization of America in Jerusalem last week.
