The Austrian government, headed by Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss, is preparing a series of anti-Semitic emergency measures, chiefly directed against East European Jews, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency was reliably informed today.
The Chancellor requested the Austrian embassies abroad to sound out foreign opinion, both governmental and public opinion, toward such Austrian action. It is believed here that Chancellor Dollfuss will be guided in his action largely by the reports of the embassies, as Austria is anxious not to alienate foreign sympathies.
