A long and bitter rivalry between the two poultry slaughterers’ unions, Shochtim Local 440 and the Vaad Shochtim Oifes, reached a happy ending yesterday when Arthur Simon, Health Department kashruth investigator, announced at his office, 139 Centre Street, that the two unions had united.
Simon’s announcement came after a series of conferences by a board of arbitration of which he was impartial chairman. The other members of the board were: Ephraim Caplan, S. Erdberg, Rabbi M. Rosen, Rabbi R. Barishansky, Louis J. Gribetz and Louis Boudin.
TERMS OF AMALGAMATION
The terms of the amalgamation are as follows:
“1. The Vaad Shochtim Oifes shall as an organization join the Agudas Shochtim Organization and the United Organization shall be known as the Agudas Shochtim Local 440.
“2. The present members of the Vaad Shochtim Oifes shall become full-fledged members of the new
