Dr. A. A. Roback, noted Jewish psychologist who wrote many books and hundreds of articles on psychology and Jewish questions and who taught at many leading American universities, died here today at his home. He was 75.
A strong supporter of Yiddish, he personally developed a 10,000 volume Yiddish library for Harvard University, at which he taught for several years. In 1929, he introduced the first academic course in Yiddish literature in the United States at the Massachusetts University Extension. He wrote on Yiddish topics and literature in both English and Yiddish.
He taught at the University of Pittsburgh. Northea stern University, Clark University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and other schools. In addition to membership in many psychology and philosophy groups, he was a member of the board of Governors of the Jewish Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the academic council of YIVO, and of other groups interested in Jewish literature.
