Funeral services were held today for Dr. Abraham Cohen, former president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. He was 70.
Born in England, he entered the rabbinate and held a number of distinguished pulpits. For his services to the Birmingham Jewish community he was made a governor for life of Birmingham University.
Retiring a few years ago as Board of Deputies president, he continued his career in writing, which included a large number of books on Biblical topics. He was editor of Soncino Books, largest Jewish publishing organization in Britain.
