Dr. Abraham I. Katsh, director of the Institute of Hebrew Studies at New York University, announced today his appointment as president of Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia. Dr. Katsh, who has served on the faculty of N.Y.U. for the past 33 years, will take up his new post next September. He will be the third president of Dropsie, succeeding Dr. Abraham A. Neuman who retired last year. Dr. Katsh, who became N.Y.U.’s first professor of Hebrew in 1947, founded the university’s Jewish Culture Foundation Library of Judaica and Hebraica.
