Formal announcement of the appointment of Dr. Abram Sachar, chairman of the national Hillel Foundations, as president of Brandies University in nearby Waltham will be made next week, it was reported here today. The Jewish-sponsored secular institution will open in September.
Dr. Sachar, well known as one of the country’s leading Jewish educators, announced that he will begin immediately to organize a faculty for the school. He holds a doctorate from Cambridge University and honorary doctorates from Illinois and Wesleyan Universities and Hebrew Union College.
