Thursday will mark the seventy-first birthday anniversary of Dr. Cyrus Adler, veteran Jewish statesman, president of the American Jewish Committee of Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning and of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and guiding spirit of many other cultural agencies in the American community.
Averse to all forms of personal publicity, Dr. Adler will permit no celebration, such as many of his friends would have liked to arrange. Last year he was on the high seas on his natal day, to frustrate any plans that might have been made for a celebration. Several months later two volumes were presented him by friends as a token of esteem.
