Dr. Max W. Bay, prominent physician, and civic and Jewish community leader, was unanimously elected president of the Jewish Federation-Council of Greater Los Angeles at the JF-C board of directors meeting, it was announced today by Judge Isaac Pacht, chairman of the nominating committee. Dr. Bay succeeds Superior Judge Irving Hill, who for three terms served as head of the Jewish community’s major planning, budgeting and fund-raising organization, comprised of 29 service agencies and 483 affiliated groups.
A national vice-president of the American Jewish Committee, Dr. Bay is a former chairman of the Los Angeles chapter, as well as a former president of the American College of Surgeons, Southern California chapter. He has received numerous awards and recognition as an outstanding community leader.
Unanimously re-elected as vice-presidents were Victor M. Carter, Mrs. Leo Hirsh, Joseph N. Mitchell and I. H. Prinzmetal, who are joined by Lawrence E. Irell. Other new officers elected are Aaron Riche, secretary; Bram Goldsmith, assistant secretary; Mrs. Maurice Saeta, treasurer; and Walter L. Keen, assistant treasurer.
