Dr. Kurt Blumenfeld, president of the Zionist Organization of Germany from 1924 to 1933, and a founder of the Keren Hayesod, died here at the age of 79. He was one of the earliest victims of the Nazi movement.
Born in Margarabowa, Germany, he was educated at the universities of Berlin, Freiberg and Konigsberg. He served as chairman of the information department of the Zionist Organization of Western Europe in 1910, and served also as president of the Central European Immigrants Association. He was a delegate to 10 World Zionist Congresses.
He also served as a member of the World Zionist Actions Committee and as a director of the department of organization and information of the Hebrew University. In 1940 he visited the United States as a delegate to the convention of the Council of Organizations for Palestine.
