The desire of Dr. Boris D. Bogen of the Joint Distribution Committee to enlarge his library occasioned a great amount of trouble to one of the employees of the Joint here.
The employee was instructed to call at the Warsaw post office for a parcel of scientific books by Communist authors which Dr. Bogen had obtained to be shipped to his home library in New York. When the employee called he was arrested. After considerable explanation by the Joint officials that the books were intended for Dr. Bogen’s personal use, the employee was released. The books however were confiscated.
