Funeral services for the late Dr. Boris Kwartin, son of Cantor Savel Kwartin, who died on Monday as a result of an explosion in the laboratory of the Beth Moses Hospital in Brooklyn, where he was pathologist and research physician, were held yesterday from his home in Brooklyn. Besides his father, Dr. Kwartin is survived by three sisters and two brothers.
Though only 31 years old, Dr. Kwartin had already made a reputation for himself in the medical world. At the time of the explosion which resulted in his death he was engaged in an experiment. He was the author of several volumes dealing with problems of lecithin bodies and immunity.
Dr. Kwartin was born in Russia and came to this country ten years ago. In 1924 he graduated from the Long Island Medical College, and for the next three years he served as director of pathology at the Post-Graduate Hospital in Manhattan. For the next two years he did research work in Vienna, and last year returned here to assume the directorate of pathological research at the Beth Moses Hospital.
