Dr. Brodetsky Makes Report on Latvia Trip

Returning from a prolonged continental tour in the interest of Zionist affairs, Professor Selig Brodetsky, a member of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, reported on progress he had made in Latvia, where permission was won from the government to carry on Zionist work in behalf of Palestine. Professor Brodetsky reached the Latvian government through the agency of the Latvian Minister to London, who happened to be visiting Riga at the time.

While in Riga the Professor conferred with local Zionist leaders and addressed a large circle of Zionist representatives. He told this assemblage, which was gathered by personal invitation (political public meetings are not allowed in the country), of the general Zionist position.

Professor Brodetsky also visited Paris, Zurich, Vienna, Warsaw, Berlin and Cracow. In Paris he attended a meeting of the Board of Governors of Hebrew University, conferred with heads of Jewish institutions, and participated in sessions of the Jewish Agency Executive.

In Vienna he met leading Zionists, with whom he discussed the Zionist and general Jewish situation in Austria. In Warsaw he addressed a press conference on the Zionist political situation, besides participating in the eleventh annual conference of the Polish Zionists and addressing a Bialik memorial meeting under the auspices of Tarbuth. In Cracow the professor addressed a large public meeting and participated in the conference of General Zionists, at which he formulated certain principles as the basis for their unification.

While in Berlin Professor Brodetsky conferred with leading Zionists and addressed a public meeting on Zionism. He also visited the Hachsharah farm and witnessed a display of the Maccabi.
