Dr. Ralph Bunche, former United Nations mediator for Palestine, who was chiefly responsible for the armistice agreements between Israel and its Arab neighbors, today placed a wreath on the grave of President Weizmann at Rehovoth. Dr. Bunche spent two days in Israel en route home after a month’s visit to India and Pakistan.
Dr. Bunche, who came to Israel at the invitation of the government, said that he saw no reason “why peace should not be restored to the Middle East” and added that the refugee problem was the greatest obstacle in the path of improved Middle East relations. Yesterday Dr. Bunche lunched with Premier David Ben Gurion and dined with Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett.
