Dr. Zevi Chajes, Chief Rabbi of Vienna, is leaving for the United States the end of November. He will lecture at the Jewish Institute of Religion, of which Dr. Stephen S. Wise is acting president. Dr. Chajes will also lecture at Columbia University.
It was during one of his High Holiday sermons that Dr. Chajes declared that he had decided to leave his Rabbinical position in Vienna and settle in Palestine. Dr. Chajes stated that when he entered the pulpit, he promised himself that after a period of 12 years he would devote himself to research and study in Iudaica.
