Rabbi Rudolph I. Coffee of Temple Sinai has been publicly thanked by the president of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce for the successful fight which Dr. Coffee waged for the preservation of 12,000 redwood trees. The fight, which has been going on for the past four years, ended when the City of Oakland finally voted to purchase the trees through acquiring a 180-tract in the hills back of Oakland. Dr. Coffee was chairman of the “Save Our Sequoias” Committee.
