Dr. David W. Edelman, chief of staff of the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital here, died suddenly of a heart attack at the hospital. He was sixty-five years old and a bachelor.
The son of the late Rabbi Abraham Edelman, first rabbi of Congregation B’nai B’rith here, Dr. Edelman was born and brought up in this city. He was a graduate of the Columbia University medical school and was prominent here in the direction of the Jewish Federation and in the councils of the Democratic Party. He served as president of the first Civil Service Commission in this city.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Rachel Barnett; a brother, A. M. Edelman; two nephews and four nieces.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday with Rabbi Edgar F. Magnin officiating.
