Dr. Zevi Diesendruck, Professor of Jewish Philosophy at Hebrew Union College since 1930, internationally famed scholar and author, died yesterday of a heart attack. He was 49.Public funeral services will be held Thursday.
Born in Stryj, Austria, Dr. Diesendruck attended the Universities of Vienna and Berlin. He taught at the Kaiserin Augusta Gymnasium in Berlin, and 1918-28, at the Hebrew Paedagogium, Vienna. In 1926-27, Dr. Diesendruck was a visiting Professor at the Jewish Institute of Religion, New York City. Following two years of service as Professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Dr. Diesendruck came in 1930 to Hebrew Union College.
