Dr. Fructioso Pittaluga, Uruguayan Foreign Minister, revealed here that he had planned to solicit authorization from his government to intercede with the Egyptian Government on behalf of the Egyptian Jews sentenced to hang, prior to the hasty execution of their sentences, “However,” added, “the executions, to my regret, made the intercession a moot point.” His statement was published in the official organ of the Uruguayan Government.
