Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Zionist Organization and chairman of the Jewish Agency, today issued a statement which reads:
“Some misunderstanding has been created with regard to the appointment of an acting chairman of the Jewish Agency executive in New York, and I wish to clarify the situation. The World Zionist Congress has elected me as president as well as chairman of the executive in New York and in Jerusalem. I have the authority each time when absent from New York or Jerusalem to appoint an acting chairman until my return.
“Since I am now remaining in Jerusalem, I appointed Mrs. Rose Halprin as acting chairman in New York. I shall return to New York in the winter, and when I leave New York for Jerusalem, I will then decide whom to appoint as acting chairman for the future terms of my absence.”
