Funeral services were held here today for Grand Rabbi Dr. Guillermo Schlesinger, 67, who had been spiritual leader of Congregacion Israelita Argentina since 1937. Born in St. Gall, Switzerland, he studied for the rabbinate at the Jewish Seminary in Breslau, Germany. In 1937, he was sent to Argentina by the Jewish Colonization Association to care for Jewish schools in this country. Dr. Schlesinger had been active in interreligious activities. In 1957, he participated in the New York conference of the United Synagogue of America which created the World Council of Synagogues. He was a member of the B’nai B’rith of Argentina and was the author of many books and pamphlets.
