Dr. Lincoln Hale, former director of the United States Operations Mission in Israel, collapsed and died at the Theodore Herzl Institute here while delivering a lecture on “Israel in the Concert of Nations.” He was 58 years old. The Theodore Herzl Institute is an educational institution maintained by the Jewish Agency.
Dr. Hale, a former president of Evansville College, returned to the United States last summer after serving for three years as the head of the U.S. aid mission in Israel. He was born in Ansonia, Conn., and served as pastor of a church in Connecticut from 1930 to 1934 after which he directed special studies for Yale University. He was named president of Evansville College in 1941 and held this post until 1954 when he became director of the U.S. Operations Mission in Israel.
