Dr. Henry Raphael Gold, a prominent psychiatrist, sociologist and rabbinic scholar, died here suddenly yesterday of a heart attack while en route to his home in New York from a vacation in Costa Rica. He was honorary chairman of the Jewish National Fund of America. He will be buried in Jerusalem.
A veteran Zionist, Dr. Gold was one of the representatives of the Zionist movement who participated in the inquiry on Palestine by the Angle-American Commission on Palestine shortly after the Second World War. He was also president of the National Council for Torah Education since 1956. A consultant in psychiatry at the Roosevelt Hospital in New York, Dr. Gold was formerly professor of medical psychology at Baylor University in Texas and had served as the first Commissioner of Housing of the City of Dallas.
