Dr. Herman Seidel, a founder of the Labor Zionist movement, in which he was active for 65 years, died today at the age of 85. He was a specialist in geriatrics. Dr. Seidel was born in Lithuania and came to the United States about 1900. He participated in the first Labor Zionist convention, which was held here in 1904, and the second one, in Philadelphia in 1905. He was a founder of the Jewish Legion in 1917 and served as a medical officer screening volunteers who went to Palestine from the United States. A founder of the Histadrut campaign, he was one of its national honorary vice presidents at the time of his death. He was also a founder and officer of Ampal, the economic arm of Histadrut.
