Dr. Herzog Becomes Eshkol’s Advisor; Was to Be Chief Rabbi of Britain

Dr. Jacob Herzog, the young Israeli diplomat who last year renounced an appointment as British Commonwealth Chief Rabbi because of illness, began work today as Premier Levi Eshkol’s advisor on international affairs.

His duties will include speech-writing for the Premier on foreign relations. Prior to his announced appointment as British Chief Rabbi. Dr. Herzog had been deputy Director General of the Israel Foreign Ministry, For the time being, he will work only on a part-time basis because he has not fully recovered.
