Israeli Chief Rabbi Dr. Isaac Halevi Herzog, addressing the Rabbinical Council of America convention here last night, extended an invitation to the Orthodox Rabbinate in America to send a delegation of rabbinical scholars to Israel to participate in a world rabbinical conference scheduled to be convened in Jerusalem some time next year.
Dr. Herzog also urged delegates to the convention to join forces with the religious bloc in Israel to “fulfill prophetic destiny by establishing a unique democratic state based on original Biblical concepts. Distinction between theocracy and democracy,” he declared, “is meaningless since the purest form of democracy can only he achieved in a state that is the expression of the basic Torah principle, ‘Love they neighbor as thyself.'”
