Dr. Breslau, who is president of the Washington Jewish Community Council, has been active in Jewish affairs for many years and was an intimate associate of the late Justice Louis D. Brandeis in the Zionist movement.

Dr. Breslau served as a chaplain in the United States Army in both World Wars and was the first Jewish chaplain to enter Berlin in 1945.
