Dr, Isidore W. Held, noted physician and medical vriter, died here last night at the age of 70.
Dr. Held, who was born in Austria, received his medical education at Jefferson Medical College, in Philadelphia, and spent four-and-a-half years of post-graduate study in Berlin and Vienna. He was the author of 86 monographs on medical subjects and translator of a number of German medical works.
Dr. Held was also extremely active in Jewish communal affairs. He was a founder of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies of New York City, a founder of the American Jewish Physicians Committee to build a medical school in Palestine, and a member of the National Council of the Joint Distribution Committee.
