Dr. Jacob J. Golub, chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee’s medical committee and medical director and executive vice-president of the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York, died here yesterday at the age of 62.
From 1921 to 1923 Dr. Golub served as medical and health commissioner for the JDC in Volhynia, Ukraine, and in 1923 went to Poland in a similar capacity. Returning to the United States in 1926, he assumed executive posts at Mount Sinai and Beth Moses Hospitals, going to the Hospital for Joint Diseases as medical director in 1929.
Recognized as one of the country’s top hospital planners, he was consulted in the designs for a number of hospitals in the U.S. and abroad, including the Rothschild-Hadassah Hospital and the Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem. He served on a number of American hospital associations and spent several years in the U.S. Public Health Service.
