Lewis Neikrug, well-known Jewish communal worker, has been appointed to the post of director of HIAS activities in Europe, replacing Dr. James Bernstein, who is retiring, according to an announcement today by Abraham Herman, president of HIAS.
Dr. Bernstein, who has occupied the post for the past 20 years, will remain with the organization for some time in an advisory capacity. Mr. Neikrug is leaving for Europe by plane tomorrow. He will make a tour of HIAS European offices to strengthen and expand their work.
