The Rev. Dr. James William Parkes, Anglican churchman and international authority on anti-Semitism, received the honocrary degree of Doctor of Hebrew Letters from the Jewish Institute of Religion tonight at a special convocation held in its chapel, in recognition of a life-time of dedicated service to inter-faith accord.
Dr. Stephen S. Wise, founder and president of the Institute, now in its 25th academic year, conferred the degree upon Dr. Parkes, who came to this country at his invitation three months ago to give the Chariss Willism Elict Lectures on Relations between Judaiam and Christianity.” Dr. Henry Slonimsky, Bean, presented the English clergyman with the award.
