Dr. Joseph Lifschitz, author and leader of the Jewish Socialist movement, died here this weekend at the age of 70. He was active in the New York committee of the Jewish Labor Bund.
Born in Poland, Dr. Lifschitz for many years headed the Polish youth organization of the Jewish Labor Bund. In 1939 he was arrested for his activities by the Soviet Union and sent to a Siberian work camp. He was freed when Germany invaded the Soviet Union, joined the Polish Army of the Middle East, and came to the United States in 1948.
