Dr. Giora Josephthal, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, arrived here today for conferences with leaders of the United Jewish Appeal on Israel’s critical settlement problems and to report to American communities on his first-hand survey of the urgent needs of the Jews in North Africa.
As head of the Jewish Agency’s immigrant settlement department, Dr. Josephthal is the key figure in Israel’s programs for receiving and absorbing the thousands of homeless and oppressed who are finding a democratic haven there. He will visit a score of cities throughout the United States to urge maximum support of the current United Jewish Appeal campaign. The UJA is the main source of funds for the work of the Jewish Agency.
