Dr. Judah Magnes Departs Suddenly for London

Dr. Judah L. Magnes, Chancellor of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, sailed last night on the steamer Mauretania for London. Dr. Magnes was accompanied by Mrs. Magnes.

The sudden departure of Dr. and Mrs. Magnes was caussed by an accident to their younger son, Baruch, now in London, who had his rib broken.

Dr. Magnes was to have been the guest of honor last night at a dinner of the Brooklyn Jewish Center in honor of the establishment by the Center of a chair for Jewish history at the Hebrew University. The dinner was called off.

A religious census of the students at Massachusetts Institute of Technology of Cambridge, Mass., shows there are 130 Jews, 5 per cent of the student body of 2712. This is the seventh largest religious group, the number of Jews being exceeded by the Congregationalists, Catholics, Episcopalians, Methodists, Presbyterians and Baptists, In order. 525 students failed to record their religious membership or preference.
