A plan for training workers to be engaged in carrying out the provisions of the $500,000,000 Federal emergency relief act is being drafted by Dr. Maurice J. Karp, nationally known Jewish social service worker, it was learned today.
Dr. Karpf was in Washington yesterday at the request of the relief administrators to consult on such a training program. He has been assigned the task of outlining a plan to train the several thousand who will be needed to carry out the relief work.
He conferred yesterday with Harry Hopkins, federal relief administrator, and following the conference, began to map out the program which, it is understood, will scientifically train not only the federal workers engaged in the relief program but also those who will be employed in the various states.
In view of his being called here to draft the program, it is likely that Dr. Karpf will be asked to direct the training program. Dr. Karpf is director of the Graduate School for Jewish Social Work and president of the American Association of Schools for Social Work.
