Dr. Leo M. Franklin of Temple Beth El, Detroit., Mich., sailed last Saturday for California by way of Panama, thus entering upon the Sabbatical year granted by his congregation in observance of the thirtieth anniversary at Beth El. Rabbi Leon Fram will occupy the pulpit in his absence both on Saturdays and Sundays.
Temple Beth El is the only Reform Congregation in Detroit. It has a membership of 1,500, with a religious school enrollment of close to 2,000 and an adult school of several hundred. Dr. Franklin will probably return to Detroit for awhile in the spring and complete his Sabbatical year by a Summer trip.
