Dr. Walter C. Lowdermilk, noted American water resources engineer and author of the most ambitious plan for the development of hydroelectric power and irrigation in Israel, has arrived here as a guest of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Dr. Lowdermilk will be asked to express his opinion of some 20 different water development schemes now before the Ministry. The basic ones deal with harnessing the Jordan River for irrigation in the Negev, construction of a water reservoir to hold 1,000,000,000 cubic yards of Jordan water and diversion of Yarkon River water to the Negev. The construction of a huge dam near Beersheba is also contemplated.
