Dr. Karl Melchior has resigned as German representative on the Administrative Board of the Bank for International Settlement at Basle, according to reports published today in the newspapers.
Dr. Melchior, a partner in the firm of Max Warburg & Co. in Hamburg, has attended since the end of the World War many international conferences dealing with reparations and other financial problems as German expert. He was also a member of the Financial Committee of the League of Nations.
Paul Reusch, the other German representative on the Administrative Committee of the Bank for International Settlement, also offered to resign, but his resignation was declined, whereas that of Dr. Melchior was accepted.
