The appointment of Dr. Yale Mintz, of the University of California at Los Angeles, as Visiting Professor of Meteorology at the Hebrew University was announced here today. Dr. Mintz’ appointment will be for a two year period and his work will be primarily directed toward the initiation of a program of basic research which may provide the basis for a rational method of long-range weather forecasting.
Dr. Mintz will be accompanied by his wife and their three children. Mrs. Mintz will also carry out a project while in Israel. She will complete a volume of translation of the work of four Israeli poets–S. Shalom. Avraham Shlonsky, Leah Goldberg and Amir Gilboa. She will also continue studies with Dr. Simon Halkin, of the Hebrew University, which she began when Dr. Halkin was a Visiting Professor at U. C. L. A.
