Dr. Julian Morgenstern, president of Hebrew Union College for the past 25 years, has asked the Board of Governors for retirement effective July 1, 1947, it was announced here today.
Dr. Morgenstern, 65 years old, requested the privilege of continuing as a faculty member and participating in research at the college. He gave as reasons for retirement the desire to do scientific work in the Bible and the history of Judaism, and the belief that the college, America’s oldest Jewish seminary, is on the threshold of a new era, His request for retirement will be acted on in January, 1947.
