Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Administrative Committee of the World Jewish Congress, departed for an extended tour of Central and South American countries last night, to discuss with government leaders and representatives of Jewish communities a number of undertakings relating to the future of Jewish life in Europe.
Dr. Goldmann, in the course of his trip will, according to a statement issued by the World Jewish Congress, visit Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peneme, Trinidad, Brasil, Uruguay and Chile. A number of important conferences with outstanding statesmen of these countries have been arranged, and their cooperation in bringing about an eventual restoration of rights to Jews in Europe at the and of the war will be sought, the statement says.
During his stay in these countries, Dr. Goldmann will help to launch a number of activities in support of the efforts of the World Jewish Congress for the relief and reconstruction of Jewish life in Europe, the statement continues. Dr. Goldmann will also pave the way for the participation of these communities in the Inter-American Jewish Conference to be held in Washington October 26th, 27th and 28th, with the consent of the State Department of the United States.
