Dr. Emanuel Neumann has agreed “in principle” to reconsider his refusal to be drafted for a third consecutive term as president of the Zionist Organization of America, it was announced today by Dr. Harris J. Levine, ZOA vice-president. Two candidates for ZOA presidency, Jacques Torczyner of New York and Dr. Max Nussbaum of Hollywood, have withdrawn in favor of Dr. Neumann’s continuing in office, Dr. Levine, who presided over a consultation of 25 ZOA leaders, stated.
“While we have prevailed upon Dr. Neumann to reconsider his previous stand against a draft movement,” said Dr. Levine, “his agreement ‘in principle’ was subject to certain conditions, involving intensified effort in behalf of the organization, which we all hope will be met. Our deliberations were conducted in a spirit of comradeship and cordiality and the outcome represents a unanimous striving for unity and harmony in the highest interest of the movement.”
