Dr. Rosen, Head of Agro-joint, Leaves for U.S.

Dr. Joseph A. Rosen, head of the Agrojoint, the agency of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee which carries on the colonization work in Russia, left today for the United States. Dr. Rosen is expected to return nere by the end of October.

When interviewed by the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency before his departure, Dr. Rosen stated that there is a possibility of obtaining an area of 50,000 desiatin land in White Russia for Jewish colonization. This land however, is mostly swampy and needs drainage. The government is ready to assist in the amelioration work.

There are 20,000 Jewish land workers in White Russia now. They are scattered in different parts of the region, he stated.

Dr. Atfred Fabius Hess. Professor of Children’s Diseases at Columbia University. New York, was awarded the John Scott Bronze Medal for his studies on the “operative influence of light on rickets and on the remarkable effects produced by the ultra-violet irradiation not only on the living animal but also on various foods, showing in the latter instance that the vitamine values in these substances could be increased.”
