Dr. Albert B. Sabin has been named by President Nixon as one of the nine recipients of the 1970 National Medal of Science, the Government’s highest award for achievement in science. Dr. Sabin, president of the Weizmann Institute, was cited for many fundamental contributions to the understanding of viruses and viral diseases, culminating in his development of the Sabin oral polio vaccine, following the original breakthrough in such vaccines by Dr. Jonas Salk.
