Dr. Norman Salit, 64, lawyer, rabbi and former president of the Synagogue Council of America died here. He was admitted to the New York State Bar and also ordained a rabbi in 1920. Subsequently he was admitted to the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Treasury Department.
In 1929 he gave up his leadership as rabbi of the Congregation Shaaray Tefila to devote more time to his legal work. However, he still remained a religious leader and was a past president of the Long Island Council of the American Jewish Congress and from 1951 to 1958 served on the executive council of the New York Board of Rabbis.
