Dr. David Werner Senator, executive vice-president of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, died last night in Atlanta, Ga., while visiting the United States. He was 57 years old. He was in the U.S. studying American university administration on a Rockefeller Foundation grant.
Born in Berlin, he attended the universities of Berlin, Munich and Freiburg. In 1924, he ### became general secretary of the European headquarters of the Joint Distribution Committee in Berlin. In 1929 he was elected a member of the executive of the Jewish Agency from which he resigned in 1945. He was appointed to the post in 1937. In 1949 he became executive vice-president of the University.
Mrs. Rose H. Halprin, acting chairman of the executive of the Jewish Agency, issued a statement saying: “Dr. Senator, a former member of the executive of the Jewish Agency, will long be remembered for his efforts on behalf of his people and Israel, particularly in the sphere of education as a guiding spirit of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.”
