Dr. John Slawson, executive vice-president of the American Jewish Committee, is leaving for West Germany in about 10 days at the invitation of West Berlin Mayor Willy Brandt to meet with German educators to discuss methods of education for democracy in schools in that country, it was announced here today.
The invitation has grown out of the American Jewish Committee’s program in collaboration with the Institute of International Education, which, since 1960, has brought teams of German educators to the United States to study American methods of civic education for introduction into German schools, Dr. Slawson will confer with German educators and school administrators, including the 60 who have taken part in the visits to the U.S. He will also meet with Mayor Brandt and other leading West German officials.
