Dr. Solomon Solis-Cohen of Philadelphia, widely known in medical, literary and Jewish communal circles, who is spending some time in Mamaroneck, is the recipient of felicitations on the occasion of his 75th anniversary, which occurred on September 1.
Dr. Solis-Cohen, an outstanding therapist associated with Jefferson Medical College for the last twenty years, is also widely known as a poet, civic worker, Hebrew scholar and communal Jewish leader.
Dr. Solis-Cohen was one of the founders of the Polyclinic Hospital of Philadelphia, now known as the Graduate Hospital. He is the author of “Pharmaco-Therapeutics.” He has been honored with high office by many medical societies.
Dr. Solis-Cohen is the translator of songs and psalms of the Hebrew poets.
In civic life he is identified with movements to attain good municipal government and was a founder and director of the Municipal League of Philadelphia. He is a member of the Board of Education.
He was one of the organizers of the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Jewish Publication Society and is a member of the Health Committee of the Jewish Agency.
