Dr. Sophia Witzman, the official historian of the British Government, died here this weekend. She was Jewish. Born in London, she studied at the University of Manchester, headed the history department of the University of London Institute of Education, and was a foremost authority on Indian history. At the time of her death Dr. Witzman had been working on a history of education in England during World War II.
